What is RSS?

At our next class we will be learning about RSS... what is it? why would you want to use it? What will it help you do?  What needs could it fill in your classroom? Personally, RSS is the most important technology I use and is a game changer when it comes to being a continuous learner.

Watch this 4 minute video from Commoncraft  to help you gain a brief overview of RSS. (you'll have to watch the clip at home since you can't get to Youtube from school.)

Now, take some time to peruse some of the best blogs out on the web and see if you can find a few that hold particular interest to you. Below are a few places to look. Scroll down the pages to find specific blog types. Make sure you look at the most recent post date to make sure you are finding current active bloggers/sites.

100 seriously cool classroom blogs for teaching ideas and inspiration
50 best blogs for education leaders
Edublogs award winning blogs  There are also previous winner lists by year in the top right corner of the site.
Links to school blogs
You can also use the Google blog search to find blogs based on keywords.

Copy and paste the address of several blogs (3-5) you find to your takeaway page in google docs so you can find them easily at the next class.

Rod,
Because you are a frequent web user, you will find great value in RSS...if all teachers and administrators would learn how to use it and integrate it into their daily/weekly practice they would be amazed at how much they would learn and how much time they would save.
